How Do I Get My Title Reviewed??
I welcome the opportunity to look at your title! I review in all genres, fiction and non-fiction, ranging from novels and short story anthologies to spirituality, autobiography, self-help, children's books, and more. Please email first to inquire about obtaining a review! Please include 'Review Inquiry for Donovan's Bookshelf' in the subject line of your email, for faster response. Donovan's Shelf specializes in ebook formats, galleys, ARC and pre-publication books...formats that are often difficult to get reviewed.
At minimum, submissions must include the title and author. Submissions ideally should also include website links (for ordering), price, and publisher name. In the case of uncorrected proofs or ARCs where this information is not available, a review will only appear with the title and author's name and a note that 'website/ordering info not available' . This information can be added in later, upon request.
The timetable: once your title and all details have been received, I will email that everything's in place to produce a review, and will confirm the month of its appearance.
If submitting an ARC or uncorrected proof, my review will center around content, not grammatical errors. The review will note that it is based upon an uncorrected proof or an incomplete work-in-progress.
Issues close the 1st of the month in order to allow plenty of time for reading and writing the reviews. For example: titles submitted before the 1st of January would be slated for review and published in February's issue. Authors and publishers can also specify in which month they want to see the review, based on publication date and marketing plans.
Publishers and authors will receive a draft of my review around the 15th of the month prior to appearance, and are offered the opportunity to tweak (NOT substantially change content!) the writing. Any changes will be returned to the author/publisher for final preview. Drafts can be used for pre-publication quotes for blurbs and marketing efforts at that time.
On or around the end of the month the issue for the following month is sent to my editor-in-chief and the final review will appear between the 1st and 5th.
Links are emailed to all featured author/publishers at that time.
Authors and publishers retain the right to request that a review NOT be published.
